Risankizumab

Skyrizi
Mechanism of action
IL-23 ()
In plain language
A lab-made that neutralizes IL-23, an inflammation-driving protein linked to psoriasis and Crohn's disease.
View
How it works
Risankizumab is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that selectively binds the p19 subunit of interleukin-23, preventing IL-23 from engaging its cell-surface . By blocking this interaction, the antibody interrupts downstream signaling that drives differentiation and maintenance of Th17 and other IL-23-responsive immune cells, suppressing production of pro-inflammatory mediators implicated in psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Therapeutic applications
FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and active psoriatic arthritis in patients 6 and older, and for moderately to severely active Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in adults.
