Rimegepant

Nurtec ODT
Mechanism of action
CGRP
In plain language
Blocks the docking site that a pain-signaling protein (CGRP) uses to trigger migraine attacks.
View
How it works
Rimegepant is an orally administered small-molecule antagonist of the calcitonin gene-related (CGRP) receptor. It competitively blocks CGRP, a neuropeptide released from trigeminal sensory afferents, from binding its receptor, interrupting the neurogenic vasodilation and nociceptive signaling implicated in migraine pathophysiology. Its formulation as an orally disintegrating tablet allows rapid dissolution and absorption, supporting use for both abortive and preventive dosing regimens.
Therapeutic applications
Indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults, and for preventive treatment of episodic migraine in adults.
