How it works
Ixekizumab is a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody engineered to bind interleukin-17A with high specificity and affinity. By sequestering IL-17A, it prevents the cytokine from engaging the IL-17 complex on keratinocytes and synoviocytes, blocking downstream pro-inflammatory signaling that drives keratinocyte hyperproliferation in psoriatic skin and synovial inflammation in spondyloarthritis.
Therapeutic applications
FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in patients 6 and older, active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis, and active non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis with objective signs of inflammation.
