How it works
Erenumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody that binds with high affinity and specificity to the calcitonin gene-related (CGRP) receptor rather than to CGRP itself. By occupying the receptor, it competitively blocks CGRP from binding and triggering downstream signaling implicated in migraine pathophysiology. Its effective half-life of about 28 days supports once-monthly dosing.
Therapeutic applications
Indicated for the preventive treatment of migraine in adults, with established efficacy in both episodic and chronic migraine.
